Maude’s + Cello + Accordion = Perfect Summer Night

Last Sunday, June, 17,  Iranian-born, Chicago-based artist Ehsan Ghoreishi, in duo with Romanian cellist Petar Kecenovici, performed an array of international folk music for fortunate patrons of Maude’s Liquor Bar. We swung by to grab some photos of the duo in action.

Here, music curator, Scottie McNiece gives a bit of background on the skilled Ghoreishi and Kecenovici. “In addition to his impressive resume of film work, Ghoreishi has for years been a member of the Black Bear Combo, a group well-known for instigating Gypsy and Balkan-inspired dance madness some Thursday nights at Subterranean. His companion, Kecenovici, is a classically-seasoned cellist who has recently been performing folk music as part of their heady quartet Bad Mashadi.” The music was a perfect pair for all palates— oysters and Champagne, or chicken and High Life.
